What are the
Surveys?


When engaging with the BCE Dialogue Schools Project the participants will complete five surveys. Each survey has a different focus and enables the participating school to gather responses from students, staff and parents. The surveys are conducted across the following groups:​​​​​

  • ​Year 5 and 6 students  ​
  • Year 7 and 8 students 
  • Year 9 and 10 students 
  • Year 11 and 12 students  
  • School staff  
  • Parents and board members

The Profile Questionn​aire

This is a short introductory set of questions designed to gather anonymous information about each respondent. This allows the results to be differentiated in terms of groups of respondents according to categories such as age, role, religion and religious practice.​ 

 ​Post Critical Belief Scale Survey​

​​​The Post Critical Belief Scale assists schools in profiling and measuring the different attitudes toward religious beliefs which exist within their Catholic school community. It measures an individual’s: 

  1. ​inclusion Vs exclusion of transcendent belief (belief or non-belief in God)

  2. literal Vs symbolic in​terpretation of religion


Melbourne Scale Survey
​​The Melbourne Scale is used to measure the theological identity of Catholic institutions. It profiles the characteristics and response of the institution in a pluralistic context. It identifies:

  1. how school community members perceive the Catholic school responding to its pluralistic context (current reality)
  2. how the school community members would like the school to respond as a Catholic school (preferred future)

  

 Victoria Scale Survey​

The Victoria Scale explores the ways in which a Catholic school in a multi-cultural and multi-religious society:

  1. defines its unique character – its Catholic identity
  2. exercises solidarity ​with the wider community

 ​The Doyle Questionnaire

This is a set of questions about relevant aspects of Catholic school identity that should be included in a thorough investigation of school identity and that may not be represented or underrepresented, in other questionnaires. This questionnaire is in two parts.
