QUEUES began to form early at St Kevin's School, Benowa, as hungry students waited patiently for pancakes to be flipped at the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Day.
Assistant Principal: Religious Education Vannesse Miller said the school’s Social Justice Group helped organise the fundraiser with members dressing up in carnival outfits for the day
She said one Year 6 student spent hours blowing balloons to make into animals.
“Demand for them was overwhelming,” she said.
Ms Miller said staff were on hand for cooking duties, flipping and serving the hot pancakes as the Social Justice Group members kept the pancake batter coming.
She said all money raised from the day helped kick-start the school’s Project Compassion Appeal during Lent
“When the school bell went the sticky, but smiling faces headed off to class - satisfied and happy,” she said.
