The Catholic Schools Religious Education Support Team has been operating in the Archdiocese since the early 1970s under a variety of names and structures.
Role of the Religious Education Support Team:
The Catholic Schools Religious Education Support Team works in the area of Religious Education with both Brisbane Catholic Education and Congregational schools in the Archdiocese of Brisbane.
The roles of the team are:
- To act as the representatives of the Archbishop in all that concerns the implementation of Archdiocesan policies for Religious Education in Catholic schools
- To facilitate reporting to the Archbishop in all that concerns the implementation of Archdiocesan policies for Religious Education in Catholic schools
- To support and monitor the implementation in Catholic schools of the Archdiocesan Guidelines for Religious Education
- To be resource persons in Religious Education for the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese
- To support school leadership in the development and nurturing of Religious Education in the Catholic schools of the Archdiocese
- To provide professional support to the Assistant to the Principal - Religious Education
- To provide inservice and professional development opportunities for the Assistant to the Principal - Religious Education
- To provide inservice and professional development opportunities for teachers of religion in the Archdiocese
- To liaise with groups and organisations, both within and beyond the Brisbane Catholic Education Centre, to further the development of Religious Education
- To collaborate in the development of policy affecting Religious Education in Catholic schools
