Kindergarten services operated by Brisbane Catholic Education provide a high-quality accredited program, with dedicated staff who deliver a safe, caring and fun educational environment that supports your child’s developmental needs.
In Kindy, your child will make new friends, learn new skills and enjoy a world of new experiences, in new purpose-built facilities designed just for them.
Your child will develop and refine language, social and motor (physical) skills, through participation in a range of creative play-based activities, including music and art. They will learn basic concepts of literacy and numeracy while they build their confidence and communication skills – so that they will be ready to join ‘the big kids’ in Prep!
The Kindy program covers 15 hours per week (or 30 hours per fortnight) in the year prior to entry to Prep. (That means your child will be at least 4 years old by 30 June in their Kindy year).
Kindy provides an educational and care program:
with an ethos of Catholic compassion and care for the development of each individual
specially designed to care for the developmental needs of children of this age
that is aligned with the national Early Years Learning Framework
where children learn through-play based activities
in an environment (indoor and outdoor) where spaces and materials are accessible to foster children’s choices and independence
conducted by a four year-trained specialist early childhood teacher and a qualified assistant.
Families with a child enrolled in Kindy may be able to access federal Child Care benefits (dependent on family income eligibility).
Kindergarten Enrolment Information
An Expression of Interest is now invited from families wishing to enrol a child for Kindergarten in 2013.
To be eligible for Kindy in 2013, children need to have been born by 30 June, 2009.
The Expression of Interest form can be lodged:
Electronically, by completing an online form (below) at the Brisbane Catholic Education website www.bne.catholic.edu.au, saving and emailing it to kindergartens@bne.catholic.edu.au
A $50 non-refundable deposit is requested and should be direct debited to the account nominated on the Expression of Interest form, with your surname and the name of the chosen kindergarten as the reference.
Enrolments will be formalised after an interview with the Director of the service in the second half of 2012.
All families who register their interest will be provided with regular updates on the development of the nominated Kindy, which will be constructed during 2012.
There will be an opening event and welcome for families at each centre in November/December 2012.
Catholic Education Kindergarten Services policies and procedures will be available on the Brisbane Catholic Education website as they are finalised.
Enrolment in Prep (primary school) is a separate process. Kindy enrolment does not guarantee a place in Prep at the primary school.
