Pathways for Middle Schooling: Walking the Talk
Throughout 2003, Brisbane Catholic Education developed a position paper and self-audit process for middle schooling – Pathways for Middle Schooling: Walking the Talk. The paper was developed in consultation with a reference group who had expertise in the area of middle schooling. The position paper:
- gives a brief snapshot of Brisbane Catholic Education’s journey in middle schooling and grounds these activities at the school level with a tool for auditing current practice in this area
- is also Brisbane Catholic Education’s response to the Queensland Government’s Education and Training Reforms for the Future – White Paper ( A call for action in the middle years of schooling was a major feature of the White Paper)
- highlights how reforms in the middle years of schooling form part of Brisbane Catholic Education’s Strategic Renewal Cycle for schools. It provides clear and direct links with the Learning Framework
The appendices provide useful tools for schools to use to reflect on their current practice and take necessary action to improve the engagement and learning outcomes for young adolescent students in our schools.
