After a long flight BCE’s pilgrims have finally landed in Spain for
World Youth Day 2011
After travelling for close to 24 hours we arrived safely to our first pilgrimage destination – Barcelona!
This vibrant and colourful city saw a group of tired and weary pilgrims venture away from the tempting comfort of soft beds in our hotel to explore this wonderful city.
With the gentle guidance of our Spanish guide, Carmen, we made our way to some of the more well known locations of Barcelona.
This was a great chance to use our Spanish (sometimes well, other times not so well) with wait staff and shop assistants and even helping some other tourists navigate their way around Barcelona, as best we could.
Having had the opportunity to explore the city we are really excited to visit La Sagrada Familia and Gaudi’s park.
The excitement grows as we meet other pilgrims and Spaniards who will be joining us in Madrid.
Excitement is building here in Spain for World Youth Day and many pilgrims have, by chance, met other pilgrims from around the world.
