Learning and Teaching

Catholic perspectives across the general curriculum

The overlay of a Catholic perspective in all key learning areas of the Australian Curriculum continued to be embedded across all Brisbane Catholic Education schools. The significant number of teachers enrolled in formation and professional development for teaching Scripture reflects the high levels of engagement. The eLearning materials supporting this initiative were shared with partners in other dioceses and religious institute schools.

The commitment to the school-wide implementation of a Catholic perspective on Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) continued, with all schools now participating in this Australian first. In 2019, the suite of resources continued to grow and multi-school professional learning events supported schools.

Innovative religious education

Selected schools took part in the Religion, Meaning and Life pilot, an innovative, student-centred program developed in collaborated with Australian Catholic University (ACU) La Salle Academy which aims to meet the diverse needs of students in senior secondary years.
