Sparking Curiosity is a project to inspire students who enjoy science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM)
subjects. Sparking Curiosity is a series of challenges involving experimenting, problem-solving, designing,
programming and a whole lot of fun.
Brisbane Catholic Education values STEM and has designed this project to build students’ understanding about how STEM
skills can be applied in everyday situations. The challenges might also inspire students to seek out a future career
in the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, or maths.
The Sparking Curiosity challenges are non-competitive and will happen twice a year. The first activity in the
challenge asks you to consider ideas of cause and effect, how systems work and design principles. Participation in a
Sparking Curiosity challenge is sure to extend your creative thinking and problem-solving skills. It will also give
you an opportunity to showcase your skills and innovation with other students as the final video submissions will be
shared across our community of BCE schools.
