Graduate Teacher Program

Primary and secondary graduate teachers who are completing a preservice education degree are invited to apply to our program in the year they graduate.

Our Graduate Program is a rolling process with vacancies and offers of employment commencing mid year.

With this one profile, you have the opportunity to explore and apply to any of our graduate teacher vacancies from our network of 141 schools.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduating from a pre-service education degree in 2019
  • Catholic - applicable to all primary teachers and secondary teachers involved in teaching Religious Education subjects (Refer to Anti Discrimination Legislation)
  • Eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Eligible to hold registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) on commencement with BCE

 

HOW TO APPLY

Step 1: Apply via LiveHire to our Graduate Teacher Talent Community by creating a profile, uploading your CV and completing the eligibilty questionnaire.

Step 2: Eligible applicants will be invited to complete an online interview - details will be emailed to you from Sonru and BCE Recruitment.

Step 3: Upload the following documentation to your profile ASAP under the Education & Qualifications section

  • Proof of Australian Citizenship or eligibility to work within Australia for the duration of your appointment
  • Current Academic Transcript including your GPA
  • GTPA Results when available
  • Professional Experience/Practicum Teaching Reports - minimum of 2 most recent
  • Other qualifications (if applicable)
  • Marriage Certificate or Decree Nisi (only applicable to verify name changes)
  • Confidential Graduate Teacher Character Reference (see details below)

Step 4: When vacancies are available, you will receive a notification via LiveHire with the option to apply to or decline the opportunity.

To be considered for any vacancy from our Graduate Program you must have completed your profile and all the requirements outlined in the steps above prior to the vacancy closing date.

Step 5: The Principal will review all applications and those shortlisted for a school based interview will be contacted.

NB: Final Academic transcripts and Practicum reports may not be available at the time of application. You may be asked to provide these at a later date in the program.

 

REFEREES

Two referees are essential to your success:

  • Professional Referee - the contact details of someone who can speak to your teaching ability, such as a supervisor or mentor teacher (ensure this is included on your CV)
  • Confidential Graduate Teacher Character Reference - a written report by someone who can speak to your commitment to the Catholic ethos and values, and membership of the Catholic faith. This can either be uploaded to your profile or sent directly to Brisbane Catholic Education by your referee.

Who can complete the Confidential Graduate Teacher Character Reference?

  • Ideally a parish Priest
  • The Principal or Assistant Principal Religious Education (APRE) from the school where you have completed a prac placement
  • A representative from a church or charity group you have worked with
  • Anyone who can comment on your suitability as a Teacher for Brisbane Catholic Education

 

INTERVIEWS

There will be two interviews:

  • Online Interview - If you are eligible for the Graduate Teacher Program, you will be invited to complete an online interview
  • School Based Interview - If you have submitted your interest to a specific vacancy and your application is shortlisted for interview, the school will contact your directly to organise a date and time.

 

OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT

If you are offered a Graduate position within Brisbane Catholic Education, upon acceptance of the offer (verbal or written)please be aware that any pending applications you have within the program will be withdrawn. If you accept an offer and then decline, you may not receive another opportunity within the Graduate Program.

 

UNSUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS

You will be notified in writing if you do not meet the eligibility requirements of the program or if your application to a school vacancy is unsuccessful. If you attend a school based interview, you will be notified by phone of the outcome.
