As South-East Queensland continues to experience rapid population growth, Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) is witnessing an increase in enrolment applications across its schools.

In response to this heightened demand, BCE will expand its Prep intake across 16 schools in 2025, aligning with the demographic shifts and rising student numbers across the region.

Growth areas for BCE schools include inner-city Brisbane, Beaudesert, Gold Coast, and Springfield Lakes.

One Grovely school, St Williams Primary School, has experienced such growth over the past few years.

St Williams Primary School Principal Nick Fogarty attributes increased academic performance, proactive stance on behaviour, student engagement, and greater support for students and parents as the reason for his school’s growth.

"We also have a fantastic staff, amazing teachers, and a very supportive parent community that drives a positive culture and climate within our school,” he said.

“At St William’s, we pride ourselves on catering to the academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of all our students.

"We’ve worked hard to establish a point of difference for parents when considering schools, offering high-quality education with exceptional wellbeing support.”

St William’s Primary School has undergone significant renovations in 2024 to cater to its growing student population, adding new learning spaces and student facilities.

Nick said, "We are very fortunate to have a large campus, which allowed us to remodel several classrooms during the recent school holidays and add a Ninja Course for students to play on during their breaks.”

Next year, St Williams Primary School will also see a major redevelopment of the Prep and Year 1 playground and the Year 2 to 4 playground.

BCE Executive Director Dr Sally Towns said, "BCE proactively responds and adapts to the needs and demands of our communities across our 146 schools across South-East Queensland."

"While BCE has responded to growth in large greenfield areas like Yarrabilba, Aura, and Coomera with the construction of new schools, our focus will also remain on meeting the needs of our growing regions in our already established and thriving schools,” she said.

“BCE is dedicated to fostering faith-filled learning communities that align with the needs of our expanding communities, creating a better future for all.”
