After starting his early career as a Rugby League player, the Principal of All Saints' School Boonah Robert Campbell is kicking goals in his new role.
As a player, Robert worked strategy on the field, with teamwork at the centre, and helped guide his fellow players to win.
Now he is set to do the same for his new school community.
As Acting Principal of his school since January 2023, Robert led his school community through a significant growth period that saw the planning of the 2024 construction of the schools' new early years education precinct, administration centre, classroom refurbishment, and library extension.
Robert says the new development is the perfect game plan for the school.
“This school has been part of the Boonah community for a long time, and the new state-of-the-art facilities will mean our students will have access to indoor and outdoor learning spaces, a library that will foster a love of reading and access to the best technology available to students,” he added.
"I am excited to see the bright future that awaits the All Saints’ School community, as these new works pave the way for enhanced learning experiences and opportunities for our students."
And it is not just the bricks and mortar undergoing a transformation.
Robert has set his sights on further fostering a vibrant and inclusive learning environment for his students and says his unconventional journey to Principalship has shaped his unique leadership style.
“I am working hard to connect my parent community, inviting our parents to our whole school assembly or Mass on a fortnightly basis,” he says.
“I have created an open-door policy with my parent community so they can see me anytime and I will listen to them.”
The Principal says he feels he has found his calling as a school leader.
"After my 10-year sporting career, I decided to take up plumbing,” says Robert, who played for Western Suburbs Magpies, Illawarra Steelers, Gold Coast Chargers, and Widnes Vikings in the English Super League.
“For me, it was a means to an end, and I knew my heart was really in teaching.”
Robert adds from day one, the All Saints’ School community has embraced him.
“I would like to thank the All Saints’ School community for their warm welcome and unwavering support," he says.
“I would also like to thank my wife who has been there for me every step of my career journey, providing love and encouragement that has been my anchor throughout.”
