Get to know some of BCE’s principals in their new roles – Tricia Howard

Tricia Howard says her journey to her first Principalship at Our Lady of Dolours Primary School Mitchelton has been the result of a wonderful culmination of leadership experiences.

Landing her first substantive role as Principal straight out of the Brisbane Catholic Education’s (BCE) Women Breakthrough to Principalship program, which encourages women to take up school principalship roles, Tricia said she felt privileged to apply for the position.

“Through my faith, I look forward to leading my school community and serving others following the Charism of Mary, St Benedict, and The Good Samaritan Sisters at Our Lady of Dolours,” she said.

Tricia said her students, staff and school community are at the heart of all she does as a school leader.

“I am particularly passionate about educating and nurturing all my students so they can reach their full potential under my leadership,” Tricia added.

“I’m a relational leader, so it is very important for me to personally know the names of each of my students, their parents, and make special connections with them on a regular basis.”

Tricia added she’s also passionate about using digital technology to enhance student learning.

“Digital technology including STEM is such an engaging way to enhance our students learning and enable them to demonstrate their learning in creative ways,” she said.

“I look forward to creating opportunities for my students to excel in this space.

“I can’t wait to achieve and grow with my students in 2023, as we embark on this new adventure together.”

Tricia’s leadership experience includes Acting Principal at Our Lady of the Assumption Primary School Enoggera, Assistant Principal Religious Education Our Lady of the Assumption Primary School Enoggera, and Assistant Principal Religious Education Immaculate Heart Primary School Leichhardt.
