As a young girl, Mia Curtis dreamt of becoming a teacher.
Little did she know she would not only achieve her dream, but also become a school Principal in 2023 when appointed to St Brigid’s Primary School Rosewood.
“I knew from a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher, I was always playing schools,” Mia says.
“I am enjoying combining my love of teaching and learning with being a Principal.”
She says she is also enjoying getting to know her new students and staff and “continuing to develop the strong sense of community that already exists at St Brigid's.”
"I am also focusing on building positive relationships and providing opportunities for the students and staff to achieve their best,” says the Principal.
"I am most passionate about building strong relationships and getting to know all members of the community.
“I love talking to our staff, students, and parents, and hearing their stories.
“When we know our learners, we can best cater to their needs, and because of this, I believe positive relationships are crucial to everyone's success.
“I would like to think that my students would say I take the time to listen to them and understand what they are saying.
“As a Principal I also like to bring joy to my student’s day, whether that's with a shared joke, talking about their success, or just making them smile.
“I know in my heart St Brigid’s chose me, and I feel very privileged to lead this school community.”
Mia was formerly Assistant Principal Religious Education at Immaculate Heart Primary School, Leichhardt. Her leadership experience also includes being Assistant Principal Religious Education at St Joseph’s Primary School, Biloela.
