SIX female tech trailblazers from Siena Catholic College Sippy Downs demonstrated their technological prowess at the Swift Student Celebration in Sydney (18 July).

Selected by world-leading tech company for their outstanding coding talents, the students showcased their innovative digital solutions to passionate, like-minded peers and executives.

One of the four tech whizzes chosen to present was Year 9 student Issy, who presented her invention which tackles an environmental and logistical issue within her school.

“I developed an Apple TV app that digitises the weekly printed schedules for the teachers’ staff room,” she said.

“By including lunch duties, school events, and timetables, my app significantly cuts down on paper usage and saves valuable time for our teachers.”

Also presenting at the Swift Student Celebration, Year 9 student Rachel mirrored Issy’s brilliance with her smart mirror app.

“It is not every day you get to present a project you designed to executives,” she said.

“My design combines a student's timetable into a sleek digital mirror interface.

“Utilising advanced digital and design tech materials, my smart mirror offers a high-tech solution for students to view their schedules seamlessly at home.”

Year 11 students Xabier, Jasmine, and Meg also presented their inventions, which help streamline student requests, help students prepare for exams, and reinforce positive student behaviour.

Siena Catholic College Academic Leader of Technologies, Paul Dionysius, emphasised the significance of the students' participation in the prestigious event.

“Their involvement not only underscores their potential but also sets a powerful example for young women in technology,” Paul said.

“The students’ journey through the Swift Student Celebration not only highlights their technical skills but also their ability to identify and solve real-world problems.

“These young coders are truly writing the script for a brighter future.”
