supporting women in sport

Matilda Kelly (front left) and her friends will be supporting the Women's State of Origin game

MATILDA Kelly is a Year 6 student at St Anthony's School, Kedron, who is passionate when it comes to women's rights in sport.

She knows every year many people love watching the men’s State of Origin games with most schools allowing students to wear a splash of maroon or blue in support of their team on game day.

This year Matilda is calling for all Brisbane Catholic Education schools to get behind the women’s State of Origin game on Friday, 13 November by allowing the wearing of team colours in school on the day.

After seeking permission from St Anthony’s principal, Martin Wilkie, Matilda and her friends will be proudly wearing a splash of maroon or blue to support the women’s game.

Why not join Matilda and her fellow students and encourage your students to wear either maroon or blue on the day in support of these fantastic female athletes.
