Year 12 class of 2019

Brisbane Catholic Education farewelled Year 12 students from the class of 2019, which were the inaugural Prep students in 2007.

In 2019:

  • 95.6% of Brisbane Catholic Education students completed school with a Queensland Certificate of Education or Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement. This was similar to 2018’s result of 95.5%.
  • Over 90% (91.9%) of Brisbane Catholic Education’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students received a Queensland Certificate of Education, a slight decrease from 92.9% in 2018.
  • The proportion of students with an OP 1-15 remained stable at 79.1% in 2019, compared to 80.3% in 2018.
  • Vocational Education and Training (VET) continued to be a significant aspect of senior learning in Brisbane Catholic Education schools. In 2019, 3,455 VET Certificates were awarded to 1,478 of the 2,621 students who completed Year 12. Further, 67% (995) of students attained a VET Certificate III or higher.

 

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education

Through active engagement and collaborative partnerships, Brisbane Catholic Education schools seek to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families have equitable access to quality education that is mutually enriching for all. Molum Sabe (The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Strategy 2017-20) aims to bridge the gap in learning achievement for each Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learner in the BCE community of schools.

The total number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students attending Brisbane Catholic Education schools increased from 1,888 in 2018 to 1,973 in 2019. Enrolment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, as a percentage of all enrolments, increased slightly over this time from 2.6% to 2.7%.

Increased enrolments occurred in Prep and Years 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, and 11, with the most significant increases in Prep and Years 5, 7, and 10.

The number of schools with more than 5.0% of the student population identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander decreased from 22 in 2018 to 19 in 2019.

A total of 30,884 students visited Ngutana-lui. 15,864 students visited from 117 Brisbane Catholic Education schools and 15,020 visitors from State and independent primary schools, and community groups.
