The Rugby 7s Carnival and regional competitions have wrapped up for 2025, capping off another spectacular year of school spirit, sportsmanship, and growing talent across Brisbane Catholic Education’s (BCE) 146 schools.
Building on the success of previous years, this year's carnival was bigger, bolder, and better than ever— with more schools, more teams, and more enthusiastic supporters turning out to cheer on BCE’s young athletes. A standout feature in 2025 was the return of the Gold Coast Rugby 7s, now in its second year, which saw record participation and fierce competition as teams booted expectations even higher.BCE School Operations and Programs Lead Greg Casey said, “participation continues to climb, with over 1600 students competing this year, across all BCE Rugby 7s Competitions”.“We’ve also seen a surge in female players bringing new energy and skill to the field,” he said.“A huge congratulations to every school, student, and coach involved and we hope to see you all back on the field in 2026.”Greg adds “I would like to thank Queensland Rugby Union for their support”.“None of this would be possible without the Queensland Rugby Union who have supported BCE to bring this carnival to life since 2019,” he said.“I would also like to thank our five regional co-ordinators for the organisation of these events.”Curious to see how your school fared on the BCE Rugby 7s field?Brisbane West resultsUnder 10 Girls -St Joseph's Primary School, Corinda Under 10 Boys - St Mary's Primary School, IpswichUnder 12 Boys Division 1 - Sacred Heart School, Booval
