It’s been three years, but the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Rugby League Confraternity Shield (QISSRL) and Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball (QISSN) are back today – 27 June 2022!

Both competitions have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic cancellations in previous years, with BCE students eager to get back on the field and the courts, as they go head-to-head with 58 rugby league teams and 64 netball teams in Mackay.

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) is sending 24 teams to both competitions which feature world class sporting selectors Vicki Wilson OAM and Tracey Bruce.

BCE Executive Director Dr Sally Towns said BCE schools will show up in full force for this year’s competition.

“This year’s carnival will be bigger and better than ever, with BCE students ready to make history on the field and courts,” Dr Towns said.

“At BCE we love to see our students succeed in anything they from the classroom, to the arts and on the field, and the QISSRL and QISSN carnival is a fantastic opportunity for BCE students to show off their sporting skills in front of world class rugby and netball coaches.

“This carnival will not only sharpen our students’ talents on the field and courts, but it will also open doors for them in the sporting world, now and into the future.

“I would like to wish all BCE schools the best of luck over the coming days, and encourage our students to have fun, and do your best.”
