“Our goal is to nurture well-rounded individuals who are prepared to succeed in an ever-changing world”
—Principal Gemma Lovell.
Discover excellence at Mother Teresa Primary School, Ormeau this Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) Open Week (28 April to 4 May 2025).
From the very beginning of a child’s learning journey, Mother Teresa Primary School nurtures strong, lasting connections with families.
By welcoming local kindergartens to events such as Under Eights Week and Book Week, the school creates a warm and inclusive introduction to school life for its future scholars.
Mother Teresa Primary School Principal Gemma Lovell said learning, wellbeing, and building connections was at the core of everything they do.
“At Mother Teresa we believe that every student has the potential to achieve greatness, and we are devoted to helping them reach their full potential,” she said.
“Our dedicated educators employ innovative and evidence-based teaching practices to create an engaging and supportive learning environment.
“Through personalised support, academic programs and a focus on critical thinking and problem-solving, we empower students to achieve their best, creating a life-long love of learning."
Gemma adds her school has a dedicated physical education program—offering a diverse range of sports programs.
“From Gala Days for Year 5 and 6 students, where they can showcase their skills and sportsmanship in a variety of events, to a wide array of afterschool activities, we ensure that our students stay active and engaged,” she said.
“Our afterschool sports offerings include hockey, basketball, soccer, and softball, providing students with opportunities to develop their athletic abilities and enjoy the camaraderie of team sports.
“Additionally, we offer intensive swimming lessons, ensuring that all students gain confidence and proficiency in this essential life skill.
“These programs not only enhance physical health but also teach valuable lessons in discipline, perseverance, and collaboration.”
With the school’s 'Year of Compassion in 2025’, Gemma said they were dedicated to celebrating and promoting acts of kindness.
“This initiative is designed to nurture a caring and supportive school environment where every individual feels valued and respected,” she said.
“Our programs and activities focus on empathy, understanding, and service, fostering a culture of generosity and mutual support.
“We also cherish special moments that bring our community together.
“From Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day, to Grandparents Day, Mother Teresa students come together in celebration, showing gratitude, love, and care for the people who support and shape their lives.
"Wellbeing Week is also a significant celebration at Mother Teresa, helping to strengthen and connect the fabric of the school community—creating happy and healthy students.”
Amazing things are happening every day at Mother Teresa Primary School.
