Do you know
a BCE employee
or team
who ha
ve
made an outstanding contribution to Catholic education
at their school
? If the answer is yes, then you might like to consider nominating them for a
2022 Spirit of Catholic Education (SOCE) award.
The Spirit of Catholic Education Awards are presented annually in conjunction with Catholic Education Week to celebrate outstanding contributions to Catholic education in Queensland.
The awards are central to QCEC's
Catholic Education Week
activities and BCE schools are encouraged to nominate individuals or teams who are making a different to the life of their school community.
Last year more than 150 nominations were received from Catholic school communities across Queensland, highlighting the important work being undertaken by staff, parents,
carers,
and volunteers who support Catholic school students.
Eric Ellis, a groundsman and cultural tutor at
BCE’s
Ngutana
Lui
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Studies Centre, was awarded both the 2021 Archdiocese of Brisbane award and the inaugural Aunty Joan Hendrick Reconciliation Award for Indigenous Education.
“Receiving the Spirit of Catholic Education award and Aunty Joan Hendrick award in 2021 was such an honour,” said
Eric.
“I feel the awards are a reminder that the hard work we do makes a difference and creates a better educational environment for all students.
“I really encourage people to nominate for the 2022 awards.”
There awards are open to nominations of individuals and teams, with the award winners announced during
Catholic Education Week
(24 – 30 July) in Term 3.
