The care and support of students is at the centre of how we plan, think, and act, creating a school environment where our students feel safe, included and valued.

Safeguarding

The safety and wellbeing of students and adults-at-risk is our highest priority. We place their safety at the centre of all decisions to create a safeguarding culture that protects them from abuse and exploitation.

Consent and Respectful Relationships Education (CRRE)

BCE takes a whole-school approach to Consent and Respectful Relationships Education (CRRE), supporting students to develop the skills, knowledge and dispositions needed for positive, healthy, safe and respectful relationships.

Aligned with the Australian Curriculum, we support our schools to deliver high-quality learning that is strengths based, trauma aware and inclusive. Guided by our Catholic values, CRRE in BCE schools nurtures the formation of kind, just and compassionate young people who are empowered to contribute to, and advocate for, a better world.

Student Wellbeing

Our approach to wellbeing is grounded in our Christian Catholic beliefs and values. Our schools promote and aim to provide safe and supportive learning environments for all our students.

Student Protection

At BCE, the desire to protect children and young people is based upon the belief that each person is made in the image of God and the inherent dignity of all should be recognised and fostered.

An essential part of our ethos is making our schools places of safety and nurturing communities of care.  This underpins our commitment to the protection of students, and we strive to ensure a culture where it is acknowledged and understood that student protection is everyone's responsibility.

Student Voice

We know that the best way to keep students safe is to create environments where they are heard and have opportunities to speak up if they are feeling unsafe. We believe that students know their world best and we encourage our students to be part of the decision-making processes for our school communities.

Student Voice is everyone’s responsibility and occurs at all levels of the organisation across our schools and offices.

The Student Voice Network, run by the BCE Student Voice Program, was created from a student idea. It is a community of secondary students designed to connect and empower students, giving them an active role in shaping their own education.
