Opening new schools in South East Queensland

New schools are developed in response to growing demand for high quality, faith-based education.

Brisbane Catholic Education has a network of 146 schools across South-East Queensland. Key new school projects are identified within a long-term strategic planning program employed by Brisbane Catholic Education. This program draws upon changing development patterns, as well as assessment of the existing serviced and under-serviced areas.

New school projects intend to deliver wide-ranging community benefits, including new Catholic schooling options for local families, support for population growth, strengthened community identity, local employment opportunities, and flexible learning environments that can evolve with future educational needs.

Windsor Inner North Secondary School (WINSS)

A new coeducational Catholic secondary school for Brisbane’s inner north — planned to open 2029.

Brisbane Catholic Education is progressing plans for a new coeducational Catholic secondary school in Brisbane’s inner-north offering families a contemporary Catholic high school option close to home.

WINSS has been developed in response to the growing demand for high‑quality, faith‑based, coeducational secondary schooling in North Brisbane, particularly across the suburbs of Windsor, Wilston, Lutwyche and the broader inner‑north region.

The proposed secondary school will accommodate approximately 910 students and 113 staff, providing much needed learning facilities for a rapidly expanding community.

WINSS is being designed with innovation, sustainability, and student wellbeing at its core, aligned with the vision of Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’. Guided by an Educational Brief developed in consultation with key stakeholders, architects Hayball have created a masterplan focused on wellbeing, flexible learning hubs, and generous outdoor spaces, targeting 10m² of outdoor area per student.

WINSS represents a major investment in the future of the Windsor and inner north Brisbane community delivering a contemporary, inclusive and future ready school designed to support local families for generations to come.
