The 2024 graduates from Clairvaux MacKillop College Upper Mount Gravatt have done their homework, boasting 15 individual subject scores above a 98. As a result, the graduates are now in the spotlight, proudly showcased as part of BCE’s Inaugural Student Excellence Awards. The awards are dedicated to honouring graduates who excelled in their Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority subjects across BCE’s 36 secondary and Prep to Year 12 schools. To add to the College’s success, 30 per cent of ATAR students attained an ATAR of 90 or above. Unlocking opportunities Clairvaux MacKillop College Principal Wayne Chapman said, “these results are fantastic for our students”. “They lead to increased opportunities, both academically and in other pathways," he said. “Our College has seen a diverse range of achievements, with 109 students obtaining vocational education and training (VET) qualifications, nine students who earned Diplomas of Business, and many others who engaged in school-based apprenticeships and traineeships in 2024.” Above and beyond 2024 graduate David Mackenroth said he felt “incredibly proud to be recognised by BCE”. “It feels comforting to know that me and my cohort’s efforts did not go unnoticed,” he said. “The support from my teachers was truly extraordinary. “Each one, especially Ms Milanovic and Ms Lancaster went above and beyond to help me reach my goals. “Their unwavering dedication played a huge role in my success, making learning not just valuable, but an incredibly rewarding part of my life.” David now looks forward to studying a double Degree in Education (Secondary) and Arts at the Queensland University of Technology. Commitment to excellence Wayne said the College’s success was attributed to “meticulous planning”, ensuring every step aligned with their students' growth. “In addition to this, we have implemented creative teaching approaches, which has enabled our students to fully develop their potential,” he said. “Our middle leaders and teachers have also played a crucial role in this achievement, working tirelessly to inspire and push cohorts of students to strive for their best. “These outstanding results are a true reflection of the unwavering dedication and hard work from our students, teachers, school officers and administration. “At Clairvaux MacKillop College, we remain committed to striving for excellence, ensuring our students have the best possible opportunities to shape their futures.” Among the 15 high achievers, four graduates were also recognised by the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority for their exceptional results in their general subjects.
