An exciting transformation is underway at Holy Cross Primary School, Wooloowin, with an early learning precinct opening this year to meet the needs of a growing community.

With newly renovated Prep classrooms, a dedicated playground, and a beautifully refurbished library, the new spaces have been designed to inspire curiosity and engagement.

Holy Cross Primary School Wooloowin Principal Simon Mahaffy said the learning areas ensured every child began their schooling journey in an environment that fostered creativity, collaboration and success.

“A good beginning is of great importance, and we want our early years precinct to be a welcoming, inviting space that facilitates contemporary learning and meets the needs of our students for generations to come,” Simon said.

This project also includes new student amenities, improved general learning spaces, landscaping and a modernised façade to elevate the school’s street presence.

Construction was completed in December 2025, ready to welcome the 2026 Prep cohort.

Holy Cross is well positioned to offer a seamless educational pathway for Brisbane families, with an early learning centre next door and a proposed BCE secondary college nearby.

“We want our students to love coming here and for parents to feel proud of this amazing primary school nestled in Wooloowin,” Simon said.

“This transformation is critical for our future and ensures our learners have access to cutting-edge facilities that enable them to thrive from Prep through to Year 6.”

Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) is committed to providing an exceptional Catholic education for every learner in modern, safe and inspiring environments across our network of 146 schools.

The new early learning precinct at Holy Cross Primary School, Wooloowin, is part of a $300 million infrastructure program as BCE invests in the future of Catholic education.

This significant investment will allow BCE schools to continue to meet the growing demand for a faith-based education in the southeast.
