Holy Spirit College Fitzgibbon is opening doors to meaningful futures for students through a comprehensive pathways program that connects learning with real‑world experience.

One of the College’s most celebrated pathway offering is its partnership with Mater Education.

Students can complete a Certificate II in Health Support Services, paving the way for them to complete a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance. Once qualified, they will be job-ready to launch their healthcare career straight from high school.

This unique program offers clinical and real-world experience within a nationally accredited, independent, hospital‑based Registered Training Organisation - the only one of its kind in Queensland.

Assistant Principal Pathways Ms Kate Pacey said the program had been widely celebrated in the school community.

“Our parents, carers and students have praised this offering, a prime example that there are no limits in pathways which can be offered to support many passions, modes of learning, and entry points for students at Holy Spirit College,” she said.

Principal Stephan le Roux said one of the school’s defining strengths was its early, research‑informed approach to pathways learning.

“Long before students reach their senior years, they are guided to explore the world of work, understand industry needs, and recognise the many ways their learning connects to real careers,” he said.

“Through industry partnerships, Careers Expos, and visits to TAFE and university campuses, students gain exposure to diverse industries and learn about multiple entry points tailored to their stage of readiness.

“Students learn that their future is not fixed - it is flexible, responsive, and full of possibility.”

The College offers an impressive suite of vocational and academic opportunities, from Certificate II in Hospitality and Certificate II Sport and Recreation to more advanced qualifications such as Certificate IV in Justice Studies or Diploma of Business.

“These advanced qualifications not only build employability but also currently provide selection rank pathways into some competitive university courses,” shared Kate.

In addition, the College supports students undertaking TAFE at Schools programs in high‑demand fields such as Plumbing, Electro‑engineering, Animal Studies, Automotive, and Commercial Cookery.

This year marks a milestone with the College’s first work experience placements - an offering tailored to students seeking real‑world workplace readiness, aligned to their post-school aspirations.

Kate adds, “the result is a senior student body that is clear, intentional, and confident in their chosen pathways”.
