The students at St Paul’s School are kicking it out of the park this Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) Open Week (27 April to 3 May).
In the last 12 months students from the Woodridge school have achieved success across a wide range of sporting disciplines at both state, national, and even international levels of competition.
Sporting tradition
St Paul’s School Principal Helen Boyes said the school was committed to providing students with a broad range of sporting opportunities that supported both participation and skill development.
“St Paul’s School supports students through a diverse range of sporting programs, including but not limited to athletics, rugby league, futsal, netball, basketball and cultural dance,” she said.
“Twice a week, students can also participate in a morning running club before school, and during Rugby League season, students take part in training every Monday.
“After school Athletics training is available to students leading into the athletics season. This continues for those who make it into regional, state and national competitions.
“Every Friday, students also join a two-hour sporting program that aims to promote physical wellbeing, teamwork, confidence and a lifelong love of being active, while also providing pathways for students to excel at higher levels.”
Helen adds that participation in sport is vital to lifelong success.
“It is about building confidence, forming friendships and learning how to strive for personal bests,” she said.
“These experiences play an important role in shaping confident and creative contributors in our world who are prepared to take on challenges both in and out of the classroom.”
