“It’s a place where families feel welcomed, connected and truly part of a school community”–St Joseph’s School, Bardon Principal Carol Seagar.

This Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) Open Week (27 April to 3 May), St Joseph’s School proudly invites families on Wednesday 29 April, to discover the strong sense of belonging that defines their school.

Central to their community is the school’s active Parents & Friends Association (P&F), which plays a crucial role in bringing families together, supporting school initiatives, and creating meaningful connections that extend far beyond the classroom.

Building community

Principal Carol Seagar said even before enrolment, families are welcomed into a connected and supportive network.

"Our school invites incoming Prep families to school functions throughout the year, giving prospective parents the opportunity to form friendships and feel part of the community early,” she said.

“Regular events are also organised for families before the school year begins, including gatherings for future students, as well as soccer and netball fitness sessions held in Term 4.

"These events are warmly attended by parents and grandparents alike, reflecting the strong partnerships that are established from the very start of a child’s journey at St Joey’s.”

Stronger together

Throughout the year, the P&F also runs a wide range of well-loved events designed to bring families together.

These include the Welcome Disco, movie nights, annual Christmas Carols, alongside golf days and luncheons.

The school P&F also organises thoughtful gifts for students to purchase for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

Carol adds, “these shared experiences strengthen relationships across Year levels and help create the welcoming, family-oriented atmosphere St Joey’s is known for.”

Supporting student learning

The P&F also contributes significant funding to enhance learning and play spaces across the school.Recent and ongoing contributions include iPads, sports equipment, playground refurbishments, support for Under 8s Week activities, Christmas hampers, and assistance with interstate excursions.

In 2026, the P&F continues its commitment to improving student wellbeing with projects such as new water bubblers and additional shade cloths, with the team also exploring options for natural shaded areas.

Beyond the classroom

The St Joseph’s community also enjoys cocurricular activities, including the St Joseph’s Netball Club, which continues to perform strongly in local competitions each year. Discover the St Joseph’s School difference this BCE Open Week!
