St Joseph’s College has proved generosity is a recipe they have mastered (Tuesday, 12 May).
In 2026, the Coomera College again rolled up its sleeves for its much‑loved community bake sale for the second year running, with the aim of raising $5000.
The College’s efforts follow a standout result in 2025, when St Joseph’s College ranked among the top 10 Cancer Council Queensland fundraisers, raising $4033.
St Joseph’s College Principal Paul Easton said thanks to community support, the College was able to exceed their goal, raising an impressive $5200 in 2026 for those affected by cancer.
“With one Queenslander diagnosed with cancer every 20 minutes, this result is a reflection of the incredible generosity that rises to the surface when 250 members of our community come together to make a real difference,” he said.
“Parents, grandparents, college staff, Brisbane Catholic Education leaders, local councillors Cr Donna Gates & Deputy Mayor Cr Mark Hammel, joined students and families throughout the morning, reinforcing our College values of faith, community, and excellence.
“Faith lived through service, community strengthened through compassion and inclusion, and excellence demonstrated by coming together to make a meaningful difference.”
St Joseph’s College Hospitality Pathway Lead and event organiser, Grant Howard said for him, the event holds deep personal significance.
“Having lost my own father to cancer in 2016, having the opportunity to spearhead this event year on year means a great deal to me,” he said.
“Having organised this event for five years, and now in my second year at St Joseph’s College, it is incredibly meaningful to see how much the event has grown and the impact it continues to have not only on our College community, but also on those impacted by cancer.”
St Joseph’s College extends its thanks to Cancer Council Queensland, Paradise Resort and Dreamworld for their support of the event this year.
In 2026, Dreamworld generously donated an annual family pass along with Kenny and Belinda (Koala Mascots) being at the event, and Paradise Resort one night stay in a family suite at their Resort in Surfers Paradise in support of the event.
