Queensland’s premier school netball carnival is officially underway (29 June), with Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) schools making an impressive opening statement on Day 1.
Bringing together 100 teams from across 81 schools, the Queensland Independent Secondary Schools Netball (QISSN) competition is one of the most highly anticipated events on the Queensland sporting calendar, showcasing some of the nation’s most talented young netballers across five days of competition.
BCE schools are once again among the largest contingents at the carnival, with 27 schools competing. In 2026, the carnival is being hosted by a BCE school, Emmaus College, Jimboomba.
St Patrick’s College, Gympie off to a flying start
St Patrick’s College enjoyed a perfect opening day, recording three victories from three matches to remain undefeated.
The Gympie side defeated Mount Alvernia College, Kedron 17 to 12 before edging Good Shepherd Lutheran College, Noosaville 19 to 17 in a thrilling contest.
Their strong start reflects the confidence and cohesion the team has built heading into the week, positioning themselves well as the competition progresses.
Emmaus College, Jimboomba shows strength and teamwork
Emmaus College also enjoyed a successful first day, securing two wins from two matches.
The Jimboomba team opened their campaign with a convincing 23 to 9 victory before backing it up with a hard-fought 26 to 23.
Trinity College, Beenleigh makes statement
Trinity College began its QISSN journey in style with an emphatic 26 to 9 win.
The victory provided the perfect launchpad for Trinity College’s carnival campaign and continued a strong theme for BCE schools across multiple divisions.
As competition resumes today and teams continue their pursuit of finals action later in the week, the entire BCE community will be cheering them on from courtside and back home.
