Four Brisbane Catholic Education schools will deliver significant new and upgraded facilities following Queensland Government funding approval this week, supporting growing communities and creating contemporary learning environments where students can flourish.
The projects at St Bonaventure’s College, Flagstone, Holy Spirit College, Fitzgibbon, St Anthony’s School, Kedron and St Dympna’s Primary School, Aspley, will expand learning capacity and provide future-focused spaces aligned with the changing needs of students and families.
At St Bonaventure’s College, Stage 2 will deliver three new buildings and the conversion of existing areas, providing additional primary, Prep and secondary classrooms, a multipurpose room, specialist Art, Design Technology and Science facilities, flexible learning areas and expanded administration, library, learning support, canteen and IT spaces. Works to formalise a new oval, landscaped areas, pathways, carparking and bike storage will support the College as the Flagstone community continues to grow.
At Holy Spirit College, a new two-storey building will place engineering, robotics and aviation at the centre of a specialist Design Technology hub. New classrooms, flexible learning areas and expansions to administration, library, learning support, canteen and covered lunch spaces will strengthen pathways from Years 7 to 12 and connect learning with future study, training and employment opportunities.
At St Anthony’s School, a new two-storey wing will provide additional classrooms designed to support Year 4 students, integrated Learning Support areas, an outdoor learning terrace, walkways, amenities and expanded canteen and administration spaces.
At St Dympna’s Primary School, will create a designated early years precinct, delivering inclusive access, dedicated outdoor areas and gardens, four Year 1 and four Year 2 classrooms, student amenities, covered walkways and a new carpark.
Corporate Services Executive Patrick O’Sullivan said the four projects reflected BCE’s responsibility to plan carefully for growth while continuing to strengthen established school communities.
“It is a great privilege when a family chooses a BCE school for their child, and with that privilege comes a responsibility to provide safe, welcoming and inspiring places where every student can learn, belong and flourish,” he said.
“These projects respond to the distinct needs of each local community, from rapid enrolment growth to specialist senior pathways in engineering, robotics and aviation. Together, they demonstrate our commitment to ensuring students across our system have access to high-quality, faith-filled education and the contemporary facilities that help bring learning to life.
“We are grateful for the Queensland Government’s support and for the leadership of our school communities. This investment, alongside BCE and school-funded works, will build capacity for the future while keeping students, teaching and wellbeing at the heart of every decision.”
The projects have been supported by the Queensland Government through the Capital Assistance Scheme and, where applicable, the External Infrastructure Subsidy Scheme.
