12 Feb 2026 Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) has officially launched its new Molum Sabe Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Strategy for 2026–2027, further enhancing its commitment to cultural safety and educational excellence for First Nations students. Developed through deep listening and extensive collaboration, Molum Sabe represents a significant shift towards a stronger First Nations voice, agency and partnership across all schools and offices. BCE Senior Manager Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education, Dr Mayrah Dreise, said the strategy reflects the voices of students, families, staff and community. “This strategy has been shaped through a strong First Nations voice with a deeper focus on cultural safety, leadership capability and creating environments where our First Nations students feel seen, valued and empowered,” Mayrah said. “Clear guidelines on the ways in which staff in our schools and offices can work in partnership with families and community will ensure that our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students achieve their goals and aspirations through education.” Molum Sabe is structured around three key impact domains; Culturally Responsive Schools and Workplaces, Pathways for Learning and Life, and Identity and Wellbeing. Over the next two years, BCE will strengthen leadership capabilities, expand cultural learning pathways for staff and implement new protocols, including the True Tracks Cultural Protocols Guide to support culturally safe practice. Playing an essential role in improving outcomes for all learners, BCE Education and Digital Excellence Executive, Leigh Williams, said the latest iteration of Molum Sabe positions BCE for long-term impact. “By building cultural capability across our system, we’re improving outcomes for First Nations students while enhancing the skills and understanding of every staff member,” she said. “This work supports our strategic plan and strengthens safe, inclusive and high-performing learning environments.” With a strong call to action for leaders and a systemwide commitment to genuine partnership, Molum Sabe provides a clear, future-focused roadmap. It ensures every student feels valued, proud and equipped to thrive, “Sharing cultures, shaping minds and changing hearts” for generations to come.
