Brisbane Catholic Education has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the engagement and are qualified and eligible to work with children. Whether you are applying to work or volunteering in a BCE school or BCE Office you must meet the role related requirements which may include some or all of the following:
Right to work
An individual is eligible to work in Australia if they are:
Australian citizens
Australian permanent residents
New Zealand citizens who entered Australia on a current New Zealand passport
non-Australian citizens holding a valid visa with work entitlements (It is important to note that not all visas allow people to work in Australia)
You will be required to provide evidence of your eligibility to work in Australia prior to appointment (please don't email these to us, we will collect this information securely). Your evidence must include one of the following:
A full Australian Birth Certificate
An Australian Citizenship Certificate
An Australian Passport
A valid visa permits you to work for the duration of the position.

Working with children checks
In applying to work at Brisbane Catholic Education you must meet pre-employment screening and checks to ensure the people we employee or volunteer in our school or offices to work with our children have no history of child abuse or neglect. Our Safeguarding Commitment The Archdiocese of Brisbane has zero tolerance for all forms of abuse and is committed to safeguarding everyone involved in its activities, ministries and services. The safety and wellbeing of children and adults-at-risk is paramount.
Certifications, licences, or qualifications
Applicants must hold current certifications, licences and/or qualifications as specified in the role description.
For example:
All candidates who don't require a WWCC will undergo a Police Check (National Crime Check). Those matters which do not have an impact on the inherent requirements of the position will not be taken into consideration. Applicants will be provided with an opportunity to discuss the outcome of the check before an appointment decision is made.
Identity check
Applicants progressing to offer may be requested to complete a secure identity check through our online portal. This check is completed securely by National Crime Check.
You will be requested to show a form of photographic identity at interview, this may include:
- Driver's licence
- Australian or New Zealand passport
- 18+ card
You will be invited to complete these checks where you will be prompted to upload your personal identification records securely through the National Crime Check portal. You will be prompted to upload documents, i.e. Passport, Photo Id i.e. Drivers Licence, Marriage Certificate, Birth Certificate, Medicare Card, Health Fund Card, etc.
Please DO NOT email any personal identifying records (e.g. Birth Certificate, Passport, etc.) to BCE throughout the recruitment process.
