Recruitment for leadership positions in BCE schools is administered centrally by Recruitment Services and advertised on our  Vacancies page.  The selection process is managed by panels chaired by a Director, Senior Leader: Learning & Identity or Principal depending on the position. ​​

Senior Leaders 

Vacancies for senior leadership positions (Principal, P-12 Head, Deputy Principal, Assistant Principal and Assistant Principal Religious Education) are advertised throughout the year on the Brisbane Catholic Education online employment page. 

Applicants will require two referee statements for all Senior Leadership positions, one from the Parish Priest and one from the Current Principal/Line Manager. These will be kept on file for 12 months and should be emailed directly to  

Middle Leaders 

Brisbane Catholic Education offer several Middle Leadership opportunities in Secondary schools and P-12 Colleges. All Curriculum Leaders, Pastoral Leaders, Program Leaders will receive an allowance in addition to their teaching salary and are giving teaching release time to fulfil the duties of these positions. ​

Primary Learning Leaders 

All Brisbane Catholic Education P-12 colleges and primary schools appoint a Primary Learning Leader (PLL) to support the Principal, school leaders and staff in enhancing the engagement, and learning outcomes of primary students. 

Primary Learning Leaders receive an allowance in addition to their teacher salary and are given teaching release time to fulfil the duties of these positions. 

​BCE Recognised Religious Units

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​BCE expects that appointees to senior leadership positions in schools will hold, or be working towards, postgraduate qualifications in religious education, theology or Christian Leadership with a minimum of 8 units. ​Click here for more info
