Since 2015 Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) has recognised the extraordinary contribution of staff who teach, challenge and transform students' lives, at the annual BCE Excellence Awards. There are ten categories of awards that acknowledge Teachers, Early Career Teachers, BCE Office staff, Support staff, Leadership and those that build a strong Catholic Identity. These awards provide an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements and successes of our colleagues that reflect and support the Mission, Vision and Values of Brisbane Catholic Education. By recognising our colleagues, we are making a statement about the culture we value and aspire to achieve at BCE.

Spirit of Catholic Education Awards

Across Queensland, individuals or teams –staff members, parents/carers or volunteers - who are making an outstanding contribution to the life of the school community in one or more areas are recognised with The Spirit of Catholic Award

Catholic school communities and Catholic school authorities are encouraged to nominate individuals or teams (staff members, parents/carers or volunteers) who are making an outstanding contribution to the life of the school community in one or more of the following areas:

  • showing outstanding integrity in leading a school community or program;
  • implementing change that improves teaching and learning and supports greater equity in education;
  • building Catholic education identity and ethos in ways that support exceptionally life-giving relationships and build hope in school communities or Catholic education agencies,
  • demonstrating excellence in teamwork that supports and builds Catholic education; and
