Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) has been named an Excellence Awardee in the Best Leadership Development Program category at the prestigious Australian HR Awards 2025, recognising its bold and innovative approach to leadership transformation.

This accolade places BCE among Australia’s most forward-thinking organisations, celebrating a leadership journey that is not only strategic but deeply adaptive, designed to meet the evolving needs of our people and communities.

At the heart of this work is our BCE Leadership Capability Framework – Encounter Me, Lead Me, Teach Me, Care for Me – a powerful blueprint for cultivating leadership at every level.

This framework has guided the development of multi-level programs that drive meaningful cultural change, strengthen leadership at every level, and foster a shared responsibility for shaping the future of Catholic education.

Our recent Culture Survey results showed significant improvement across all indices, reflecting the powerful and coordinated efforts to bring our aspirational culture to life—one that is committed to:
  • Catholic identity, student learning, and safeguarding
  • trusting and empowering our people, while prioritising wellbeing
  • high performance and innovation.
“Our leadership programs are built on the principles of adaptive leadership—empowering individuals to navigate complexity, embrace change, and lead with purpose,” said People & Culture Executive, Cathy Heffernan.

“This nomination is a tribute to the collective effort of our people and our belief that leadership is everyone’s business.”

“We’re not just developing leaders—we’re cultivating adaptive mindsets that support wellbeing, performance, and our mission,” said Acting Head of People, Culture & Capability, Kristy Harrison.

“This is about building a high-performance culture and bringing our mission of ‘Teach, Challenge, Transform’ to life.”

“While we celebrate the progress reflected in our Culture Survey, we know the journey continues,” Cathy said.

“We remain committed to sustaining this momentum and growing a culture where every individual can thrive.”

BCE is proud to stand alongside other esteemed organisations and looks forward to the Australian HR Awards Gala in Sydney on Friday 5 September 2025, where the winners will be announced.
