St Bonaventure’s College is a name to be remembered for families of Flagstone in South-West Logan.

The Prep to Year 12 College is planned to be one of South East Queensland’s newest schools in 2026, catering for more than 1800 students once all stages of development are complete.

The College will join Brisbane Catholic Education’s (BCE) 146 schools across the Archdiocese of Brisbane, which ranges from Hervey Bay in the North to Coolangatta in the South.

Leading the College is newly appointed Foundation Principal Anthony Elmore, who brings vast leadership experience to the Logan community.

Anthony, who is currently Principal at St Michael’s College Merrimac, will start in the position next year in the lead up to the school’s opening in 2026.

St Bonaventure’s College will draw upon the characteristics of Franciscan Identity and the community will be supported to live the Franciscan tradition in all they do through prayer, service, and in kinship with creation.

Also unveiled today is the St Bonaventure’s College logo – featuring the Franciscan Tau cross. This symbol reflects penance, forgiveness, and mercy, sitting atop the natural creation symbolising St Francis’ love for all creation and our commitment to caring for our common home. The circular shape showcases the eternal connection of family and community, and the mountains, creek, and sun represent the traditional lands of Mununjali Country of the Yugambeh language people. The three knots are a cornerstone of the Franciscan Order and represent families, students, and staff within the school.

The school’s motto, ‘to know and to love,’ further encapsulates the College’s mission to foster a deep pursuit of knowledge and a genuine love for all of God's creation.

BCE Executive Director Dr Sally Towns said St Bonaventure’s College will be connected with one of the most reliable education systems in Australia and will follow the opening of Notre Dame College on the Sunshine Coast in 2025.

"St Bonaventure’s will provide high-quality, accessible education for families in Flagstone and surrounding areas,” she said.

“It will be a cornerstone of excellence in education, supporting the educational needs of this vibrant and expanding area.

“St Bonaventure’s will welcome families from all different backgrounds, cultures, and learning abilities with our mission to create an environment where every student feels valued and supported.

“It will be more than just a school; it will be a place where lifelong friendships are formed and a strong sense of community is built.”

Dr Towns said she was pleased to welcome Anthony Elmore, who will bring a deep understanding of school operations and leadership having held leadership positions at St Michael’s College Merrimac, St Joseph’s College Coomera, and St Peter Claver College Riverview.

Stage 1 works will include the construction of several new buildings to accommodate the needs of a growing community and deliver new primary and secondary classrooms, as well as a new administration building, library and a multipurpose sports hall.

St Bonaventure’s College is planned to have an Outside School Hours Care service on site run by Catholic Early EdCare and will be fortunate to receive strong support from key stakeholders in the Catholic education community, including BCE, Franciscan Schools Australia, Regents Park Catholic Parish, and the Queensland Catholic Education Commission.

St Bonaventure’s will be BCE 13th school imbued within the Franciscan Tradition in South East Queensland.

Franciscan education is in the service of becoming ‘good people’, men and women of integrity who are equipped with a sensitive moral compass, the ability to discern what is of real and of enduring value, and a commitment to live whole and healthy lives.

Families can register their interest now to receive updates about the proposed school here.
