One of Logan’s top-improving primary schools, St Clare’s Primary School, Yarrabilba, is inviting families to experience its high-achieving learning environment this Brisbane Catholic Education Open Week (28 April to 4 May 2025).

On Tuesday 29 April St Clare’s Primary School will host a special session, ‘Shine Your Light on Learning,’ where prospective families can meet the Principal, explore the school’s learning environments, discover its innovative programs, and diverse co-curricular opportunities.

St Clare’s Primary School Principal Liesl Profke said St Clare’s was passionate about providing students the opportunity to “shine their light inside and outside of the classroom and make positive contributions to the growing local community of Yarrabilba”.

"At St Clare’s we are proud of the strong foundation we build for students across all phases of learning, Prep to Year 6,” she said.

“Differentiated learning is prioritised in all classes with students in the Early Years being supported each day by up to four staff members who provide targeted, individualised learning support.

“This support helps students achieve excellent outcomes in literacy and numeracy.

"Our school's extended Learning and Teaching and Support Team plays a key role in shaping our students' educational experience by creating equity through consistent learning approaches across all classrooms.”

Alongside the strong foundation provided in literacy and numeracy, Liesl said it was vital that students also had opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities that nurture wellbeing, resilience, leadership, and personal growth.

"We are proud to offer sporting opportunities through our partnerships with development officers from the NRL and NRLW Titans, Brisbane Broncos, Queensland Netball, and the AFL,” she said.

“In 2025, we are excited to take part in BCE’s STEM MAD competition for the first time, giving our students the chance to showcase their talents within the STEM space and ‘Make a Difference’ (MAD).

“We also foster a love of learning through our Friday afternoon activity sessions, which students in Years 3-6 can select as electives at the start of each Term.

“Through these activity sessions, students explore their passions in areas like coding, podcasting, drama, choir, STEM, textiles, and sport.”

As a vibrant multicultural school, with students identifying strongly as active members of over twenty-five cultural groups, Liesl said students were encouraged to celebrate and experience their cultures through a variety of programs and activities led by dedicated members of staff.

“Our school guidance counsellor started a lunchtime dance club, giving students a fun and inclusive space to express themselves and connect with others,” she said.

“Other staff give generously of their time to ensure that students learn through language, song, drama and dance; to be proud of their cultural heritage and of the richness they bring to the St Clare’s community.”

Liesl said that after a 38-year career across Primary, Secondary, and Prep to 12 schools, St Clare’s now “feels like home”.

“St Clare’s is an amazing place, and I am honoured and privileged to be here,” she said.

“The impact we make here every day is what truly drives me.

“Inspired by the St Clare’s Primary School motto, I believe in creating an environment where each learner has the opportunity to, Connect, Learn and Thrive, to design a life of choice, not chance.”
