This year Clairvaux MacKillop College’s Battle of the ROCK Bands Festival is turning up the volume, and you’re invited to an exclusive sneak peek (Thursday 9 October), ahead of the live shows (6.30pm from 9 to 11 October).

Teacher, and Battle of the ROCK Bands event co-founder, John Daly said after rocking it out throughout the school holidays, 30 schools from across Queensland are ready to amp it up for the 8th annual Clairvaux MacKillop College, Upper Mount Gravatt rock music Festival event.

“This is a special year as we have our 1000th student performer ready to hit the stage,” he said, and we also celebrate the milestone of having our 100th student crew member working backstage at the festival in 2025. This is such an achievement from a small, simple event we created in 2016 to a three day festival in 2025.

“If you’ve ever thought about attending this event, now’s the time, as we have the best student musicians in Queensland lined up to play.”

Co-founder Tim Hondroudakis adds, “the festival is more than just a music event, it’s a stage for student talents to shine in a real rock band atmosphere.”

“There are so many talented musicians, and this event provides them with the on stage experience they will need as they pursue careers after school.

“Beyond the music, it’s a hands-on opportunity for students who have an interest in stagecraft and technical production to gain real world experience.

“Whether they’re on stage or behind the scenes, students walk away with experience that’s as authentic as it gets.”

The 2025 Battle of the ROCK Bands Sponsors include:
