This year’s Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival (QCMF) struck a chord with audiences, as 74 Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) schools took centre stage to showcase their talents.

The festival is designed to provide Catholic students from across South East Queensland with the opportunity to showcase their talents to spectators, building their confidence on stage, and preparing them for the real world of music performance.

This year, Brisbane Catholic Education proudly sponsored QCMF, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the arts and ensuring students have opportunities to perform and showcase their talents to live audiences.

Mary MacKillop College, Nundah Principal Erin Wedge said being part of the QCMF was a powerful reminder of how music shapes us as learners and leaders.

“It was inspiring to see our students perform, collaborate, and be filled with such joy,” she said.

“These moments empower the next generation of women to lead with courage and creativity.

“The weekend highlighted the importance of connection, community and creativity.”

St Elizabeth’s School, Tarragindi Principal Jenna Webb said events like QCMF reinforce the importance of music education by giving students a platform to shine.

“They foster pride, school spirit, and a sense of achievement that extends far beyond the stage,” she said.

“As our students continue to grow as musicians and leaders, we celebrate their commitment and the transformative power of music in education.”

The strong turnout of 74 BCE schools this year is a testament to the growing enthusiasm for music education and the value placed on the arts across BCE’s 146 schools.

BCE would like to congratulate all the students who took part in this year’s QCMF, and thank the teachers, families, and organisers who continue to support and inspire young musicians to share their gifts with their communities.

Ahead of QCMF, 85 music educators from across Queensland came together for Villanova’s annual Music Education Conference. The conference welcomed 21 world-class clinicians from across Australia and the United States, including many passionate educators from across Queensland Catholic schools.
