It’s an exciting time of year, Fanning the Flame has kicked off this week (Monday 22 July), with Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) Executive Director Dr Sally Towns heading to St Thomas More Primary School, Sunshine Beach for the first information day.
BCE Head of Catholic Identity Alain Pitot said the day was a huge success.
“It was incredible to see Year 5 and 6 BCE students participating and engaging in prayer, song and conversation, allowing the fruits of the Holy Spirit to be unpacked and celebrated in innovative and creative ways,” he said.
“As part of the launch, BCE Youth Ministry connected with enthusiastic and joyful students, providing them with the opportunity take up the message of Matthew 5:16 and shine their light.
“On the day BCE students were able to explore their gifts of the Holy Spirit to make a difference in their community and feel confident and comfortable taking their faith as they prepare for high school.
“The day will be co-facilitated by BCE Youth Ministry and Year 9-11 students from secondary schools across the Archdiocese, and it was exciting to see the BCE Youth Ministry and students work together to tap into the Religious Education Curriculum.
“The information day was filled with energy, joy, inspiration, and faith, an encounter that is both powerful for students and inspires them to take up Pop Francis’ call to keep the moving flame of joy alive.
“The day truly inspired the young to heed the call of Pope Francis to keep the moving flame alive in their lives.
“As the BCE Youth Ministry continue to road-trip the program to all 11 venues across the Archdiocese, I can’t wait to see more schools taking up the opportunity to run Fanning The Flame in their schools.”
BCE Youth Ministry will be road-tripping the program to at least 11 venues across the Archdiocese.
