Students at St Columba’s Primary School, Wilston and Mater Dei Catholic Primary School, Ashgrove were treated to an exclusive sneak peek of the newest novel from bestselling children’s author Andy Griffiths (Friday 29 August).

Bringing Andy’s stories to life, some students dressed up as their favourite Andy Griffiths characters, including those from Andy’s new novel, You & Me and the Peanut Butter Beast.

St Columba’s Primary School teacher librarian Nena Morgante said Andy took students on a whirlwind adventure through his wildly creative world of writing.

“Andy’s books have captured the hearts of millions of children, including our own,” she said.

"Andy’s visit shows students that books aren’t just something you read; they’re whole worlds you can step into.

“Experiences like this spark creativity, encourage storytelling, and remind children how joyful reading can be.”

St Columba’s Primary School teacher librarian Lisa Irwin said having Andy visit their school was “a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

“Over the years, Andy had made our jobs effortless by creating stories so relatable that children can’t help but fall in love with reading,” she said.

“He pioneered a way of writing that speaks directly to young minds, making every page feel familiar, hilarious, and impossible to put down.

“Moments like this leave a lasting impression, encouraging children to pick up books, explore their imaginations, and maybe even start writing their own adventures.”
