BCE students splash into summer

Brisbane Catholic Education’s 78,000 students are Queenslanders at hea. 

They thrive in the sunshine and embrace their love of water sports, from swimming carnivals to surfing lessons, BCE students bring energy, joy and care for their common home to every aquatic adventure. 

Our Lady of the Rosary School, Caloundra 

Our Lady of the Rosary School Year 6 student Elsie is one to watch for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

The young swimmer has broken multiple Queensland records this year at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships (10-to-12-year girls): 

Gold and National Record - 100m backstroke 

Gold and National Record - 4x50m Mixed Medley Relay where she swam butterfly  

Gold - 50m backstroke 

Silver - 50m freestyle 

Silver - 100m freestyle 

Silver - 4x50m freestyle relay 

Silver - 4x50m medley relay 

Bronze - 50m butterfly 

Bronze - 100m butterfly 

8th in the breaststroke final 

Elsie was also named the 11-year-old Girl Swimmer of the Championship and competed at Nationals in Ballarat, Victoria last October.

Clairvaux MacKillop College, Upper Mount Gravatt 

Clairvaux MacKillop College Year 10 student Charli is also making waves in the pool, competing at the Australian Elite Junior Championships for diving. 

Charli achieved her personal bests in all her individual events, including:

Silver medals in both the 1m and 3m springboard 

Bronze in the 3m synchronised diving 

4th place in platform — an event she’s only entered three times! 

St Mary's College, Ipswich

While BCE schools love a swimming carnival. 

At St Mary’s College, it was Horan House who won the swimming carnival with 1566 points in 2025, followed by Murphy 1382 points, Whitty 1151 points and Gorry 1125 points.
