For the first time at Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE), FisherONE Online Education has hosted a virtual Year 12 graduation and celebration evening.
Bringing together students, families, base school leaders, and staff from across Queensland, the special evening honoured the achievements of the Class of 2025 and celebrated the power of connection in a digital age.
FisherONE teacher, Tayla-Jay Topp said the online event included all the same elements you would expect from a traditional face-to-face awards evening, thoughtfully adapted to the digital format.
“FisherONE is a unique experience for our students, providing them with access to subjects that support their career goals but are not available at their base school,” Tayla said.
“Our Year 12 students were eager for a meaningful way to celebrate their shared journey, and I saw an opportunity to create something special, designing a virtual celebration that reflected FisherONE's unique identity.
“The aim was to ensure that every student felt proud, connected and celebrated as an important part of our FisherONE community.”
With heartfelt speeches, student performances, community recognition and the celebration of achievements, the sense of community and pride was palpable.
BCE Senior Project Officer – Progressive Reporting and Online Learning, David Gall said the evening was another way that FisherONE reimagines what schooling could be.
“It was a privilege to be part of the evening, celebrating our students’ achievements and the impact of FisherONE, proving that connection and celebration can thrive in new and innovative ways,” David said.
“Hearing the range of schools acknowledged across the whole state, and seeing the pride in the students themselves, was a wonderful experience.”
With students enrolled across Queensland, the online format made it accessible for all, no matter where they were located.
Some schools, such as McAuley College Beaudesert, went a step further by hosting their own in-person streaming session at their College making the occasion even more special.
“We are so deeply grateful for the effort, care, and creativity that went into making the Year 12 Graduation such a memorable celebration,” McAuley College Beaudesert, Base School Leader, Myleigh Taylor said.
“It was an extraordinary evening with every detail reflecting the team's dedication; the warmth of the atmosphere, the seamless organisation, and the genuine sense of community.”
FisherONE Head of Campus, Megan Pidskalny, said FisherONE’s growth was a testament to its community of trust, partnership, and shared purpose.
“The graduation event honoured our collective effort and dedication to ensuring every student can access quality education no matter where they live,” she said.
“We’ve proven that flexibility is not a compromise, it’s a commitment to equity, innovation, and opportunity.
“Our graduates have shown what’s possible when courage meets connection, and faith meets innovation.”
As FisherONE continues to expand across Queensland, this first graduation marks a defining moment in the story of Catholic online education, proving that connection and celebration can truly thrive anywhere.
