In the foundation year of Notre Dame College, Bells Creek, one teacher has already set the stage for something extraordinary. Paige Wharton, an Early Career teacher, has not only launched her teaching career with passion and purpose, but she has also built a strong culture that celebrates dance and the performing arts. Just months into her role, Paige introduced an inclusive dance program that has captured the hearts of students and families alike.
Her vision brought together 63 students from Years 1, 2, 3 and 7, who recently achieved second place at the Dance X State Finals.
Notre Dame College Principal Dan McShea said, “it’s an incredible milestone for a brand-new College”.
“To have a dance troupe participate in the State Finals in our first year, let alone win silver medals in three separate categories, is beyond belief,” he said.
“We are extremely proud of our students, grateful for the talent and dedication of Paige, and excited about the possibilities of what will be built on this great foundation.”
Paige said dance is more than movement, it’s about confidence, creativity, and belonging.
“It has always been my dream to create a dance program for my students,” she said.
“With the College newly opened, it made sense to pursue my passion and give students the chance to grow their love for dance and performance.”
Dan adds, “her approach is simple yet powerful: everyone is welcome”.
“By removing barriers and embracing inclusivity, Paige has created a space where every child can shine,” he said.
“Parents have praised the program for making performing arts accessible and affordable, with before-school classes that fit busy family schedules.
“In our first year, she has helped define who we are, a school that values creativity, community, and opportunity.
“Her work is laying the foundation for a vibrant performing arts culture that will inspire students for years to come. “Notre Dame College is proud to celebrate Paige’s achievements, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.” For more information about Notre Dame College, Bells Creek or to enrol, click here.
