Bright New Learning Spaces Officially Opened at St Francis College, Crestmead

8/06/2022

L-R Deputy Director, Brisbane Catholic Education, Dr Doug Ashleigh and Principal, St Francis College, Crestmead, Mr John Marinucci.

St Francis College, Crestmead officially opened their Solano building housing students in Years 5 and 6, along with the college's language and arts precinct for upper primary at the P – 12 school.

Principal John Marinucci said the $3.3m building was designed to utilise the natural sloping terrain to create learning spaces that provides magnificent and defining lines of sight to the oval and court playing facilities.

“There's a large open undercroft area at adjoining classrooms at the lower ground level and an additional six classrooms at the upper ground level," he said.

“These were designed to be bright and welcoming, to create more student- centred learning spaces and allow our teachers to truly accommodate all the learners in the room.

“The spaces enable collaboration with other classes via the seamless work areas and how they merge.

“Collaboration is a key aspect for students as they weave their way through the 21st century."

Further Principal Marinucci shared the immense pride he had in the College providing the students of Logan with such outstanding learning facilities.

The official blessing and opening were led by Father Mikhael Loke from the St Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Community in Kingston-Marsden.

The event attracted past principals, past heads of campus and leadership team members along with the Deputy Director of Brisbane Catholic Education, Dr Doug Ashleigh and local Logan City Councillors Jon Raven and Jacob Heremaia.

As part of the long-term plan for the refurbishment of the site's facilities, the College will now turn its attention to the development of the senior school precinct.

Families in the local community who may be considering St Francis College for their child's education are invited to tour the new learning spaces and College campus. Simply reach out to the College Registrar to book a tour.
