One of Brisbane’s most historic inner-city schools, Holy Cross School, Wooloowin is set to receive a major facilities upgrade in 2025.
The 135-year-old school will receive a new facade and renovated Prep space, including a play area and general learning areas. The upgrades will also improve and modernise existing facilities.
Holy Cross School Principal Simon Mahaffy said, “with new housing developments emerging locally and more families choosing our school, these upgrades will ensure we can continue to grow and accommodate our expanding student population”.
“These upgrades are more than just aesthetics—it’s about creating a welcoming and inspiring environment for our students, staff, and families,” he said.
"Our youngest learners deserve the very best start to their education.
“Combining state-of-the-art design and technology, the new Prep classrooms will provide a bright, engaging, and flexible learning space that supports creativity and collaboration.
"The new play areas will also provide safe, stimulating spaces where our students can explore, grow, and build friendships.
“We are excited to see our learners enjoy these new facilities for years to come.”
Simon adds, “this renovation will continue to cement our position as a thriving school in inner-city Brisbane, adding to our reputation of offering a safe, caring, and welcoming school community”.
"I would like to express my gratitude to Brisbane Catholic Education for their generous support in making these upgrades possible for our school community,” he said.
The works are expected to begin during the Easter school holidays and conclude by the end of 2025.
