Our Lady of the Rosary students splash into Autumn

Our Lady of the Rosary School Principal John Bates dives into Autumn with students.

With Brisbane recording some of its hottest temperatures this Summer, the upgrade of the Our Lady of the Rosary School’s pool could not come quick enough.

The Kenmore Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) school pool was officially opened and blessed by Father Mark Franklin on Monday 13 March.
The 25-metre state-of-the-art pool upgrade includes new tiling, pool resurfacing, pool heating system, the installation of ladders and an Olympic standard starting blocks.
Our Lady of the Rosary School Principal John Bates said his school now has the most modern school pool in the Kenmore region.
“The old pool was the same age as our school - and we’re celebrating our 60th anniversary this year,” he said.
“Sixty years is a long time for a pool to hold up.
“These upgrades will mean our students will have the opportunity to not only learn to swim at school, but they can also enjoy cooling off at lunchtime with their friends year-round.
“We’re also proud that Commonwealth Games Swimmer Tom O’Neill and Olympic Games Swimmer Christian Sprenger spent their primary school years swimming in this pool.
“I know these upgrades will continue to provide our students with endless opportunities to grow, achieve, and succeed for years to come.
“Who knows, we may see some more future Olympic and Commonwealth Games swimmers born out of this new pool too.”
John added the pool was originally built in 1963 to help create a sense of community for the school.
“I know this pool will continue on its legacy within our community as a place for our students and our broader school community to learn to swim and make many memories together,” he said.
BCE would like to wish Principal John Bates and the Our Lady of the Rosary School all the best as they embark on their 60th year of educating students.
