3792 students will walk out the school gates for the very last time today (Friday, 18 November), with the 2022 graduates celebrated and congratulated in a variety of graduation ceremonies across BCE’s secondary and Prep to Year 12 schools.
BCE Head of Education Marisa Dann said there is no doubt that the 2022 graduates have had a unique senior experience.
“Having spent half of their secondary schooling years under COVID-19 conditions, this graduating class of 2022 is an extremely resilient bunch,” she said.
“They jumped into online schooling, a curve ball which has made them more employable now that they have finished school with their ability to be agile, problem solve, and open to drastic change.
“But despite adversity, this has not stopped this year’s graduates from achieving all kinds of success throughout their senior year.
“We have had students undertake school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, with some students even receiving honours for university subjects while still completing Year 12.
“This year's graduates have also worked smarter, using diverse pathways available to them to accomplish their post schooling goals.”
Marisa added she is confident that this year’s graduates will leave their mark on this world.
“This year’s graduates helped pioneer BCE’s Student Voice movement, which encourages students to have a say in the decisions that impact on their schooling experience, learning, and wellbeing.
“I know this year's graduates will be trailblazers, making this world a better place for all, embodying a contemporary Catholic worldview in all they do.
“Advocating for equity and justice, and growing inclusion and diversity wherever they go.
“To our Year 12 students, I wish you all the very best as you prepare to experience adult life for the very first time, and I look forward to seeing your many successes in the years to come.”
