Senator Paul Scarr is welcomed to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School library
by Principal Petrea Rawlinson and students

ONE of Queensland's newest federal politicians visited Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School at Darra – and was very impressed by the school and its students.

Senator Paul Scarr was elected in May this year and was keen to see Catholic education in action.

He spent an enjoyable and informative hour visiting classes in Prep and Year 6 and asking students about their work.

The Senator then met with Principal Petrea Rawlinson and a selection of other staff to discuss some of the challenges being experienced in the schools sector, such as meeting the needs of students requiring support and funding.

Senator Scarr wished the soon-to-graduate Year 6 students well as they move into secondary education next year.

“I am sure they will be outstanding,” he said.
