To the familiar chime of the school bell, St Benedict’s College Mango Hill welcomed a record number of twins next on Tuesday, 23 January - including a record-breaking seven sets of twins in Year 7.
Ahead of their first day of secondary school, the 14 siblings met on Monday 15 January to explore their new College surroundings.
St Benedict’s College Principal Tameika Grist, who joins the College as its new Principal in 2024, said, "this is the first time I have seen this many twins at school, let alone in one year level in my 23 years as an educator."
“Seven sets of twins starting in Year 7 is out of the ordinary,” she says.
“As the new Principal of St Benedict’s College, I am excited to begin this new education journey with such a unique set of students.”
Tameika adds that every student, twins or otherwise, receives individualised treatment at the College.
“I want them to understand their intrinsic value as individuals, each charting their unique path towards their dreams and desired outcomes," she says.
"Even more remarkable is the unwavering support they will receive from their sibling throughout this last part of their schooling journey.”
The sets of twins are 14 of 1042 students who went back to school at St Benedict’s College Mango Hill on Tuesday, 23 January.
